About a month ago I decided to take the bull by the horns and really go for it to relaunch my business. Cue project Rebrand Revamp Relaunch!
Having started the business in 2010 everything was chugging along quite nicely. I had some lovely brides and grooms that I was working with and I had even given up the day job to concentrate full time on the business. But life has a habit of occasionally throwing in a curve-ball to mix things up a bit!
In August 2012 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two lots of surgery swiftly followed the diagnosis. Firstly to remove the rapidly growing tumour and the sentinel node, and secondly to remove further lymph nodes as the cancer had started to spread. Chemotherapy followed starting in the November and finishing in March 2013. Every weekday in May I had radiotherapy. At the end of June I had a full hysterectomy. Having hemorrhaged in December during chemo and ended up in hospital for a few days for a blood transfusion and rest it was agreed that surgery was the best option for me. By the end of 2013 I should have been getting fitter and stronger but I wasn’t. Finally in April 2014 I was diagnosed with late onset asthma.
In 2014 I attempted to pick up the business again. However my body and mind had taken such a beating that I eventually realised that I needed a break for some serious R&R!
I continued to go regularly to my jewellery classes every Tuesday morning which I really looked forward to. Even if I didn’t have a particular project in mind it was good to get out of the house and see my classmates. I managed to get my asthma pretty much under control and was walking the dogs everyday and getting fitter. In September I started working for a company selling travel insurance. As my husband was working away during the week it suited me to do the evening shift. I could spend the day doing things like jewellery and dog walking before doing my shift and earning some money to buy silver, gemstones and pearls!
I gave up the insurance job in January 2016 as Mr S was back at home full time developing his own business. In June he landed a contract working in Barcelona. It was at this point that I realised that I was ready to get back to my own business. However, my website was woefully out of date and incomplete – it was time to rebrand revamp and relaunch!
I am currently almost cross-eyed with tiredness, my eyeballs feel that they could start bleeding at any moment after hours and hours of screenwork and I really need a decent nights sleep without waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning with my head buzzing with ideas for the website or things that I mustn’t forget to do. I now understand why web designers charge so much money! But today I am feeling euphoric! The main bulk of the work is done and it is ready to go live. I have more ideas that I’m working on, but they can be added on when I’m ready.
My creativity is back and I’m raring to go. I have learned a huge amount over the last month or so and I’m very proud of what I have achieved. I can now get back to doing some normal things instead of being chained to my desk for hours on end – the dogs deserve to be played with, the weeds in the garden need to be pulled, the laundry needs to be sorted, my nails need to be filed (ragged doesn’t even begin to cover it!). Oh, and I have a rather messy workroom to tidy, as well as lots of ideas for new creations!
